Today, the Egyptian army killed at least 17 Egyptians protesting against the demolition and burning of a church in the governorate of Aswan in Upper Egypt and against the discrimination Copts are facing in building churches.
Egyptian army used live ammunition and rubber bullets and they ran over protesters with their tanks in a scene quite identical to the scene of Mubarak’s police trucks running over protesters in the early days of the revolution. ( watch videos below)
The army stormed satellite channels studios during the live broadcast about the what happened and forced them to stop broadcasting. Now there is no live broadcast except from the Egyptian state television controlled by the army.

11:45 pm – October 9, 2011: the death toll rises to 23 dead and 174 injured (according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health), while there are witnesses from inside the Coptic Hospital stated that there are at least 25 dead and more than 400 injured
